Indian Summer

Welcome vicarious travellers to the blog of Will and Donavon's journey through India, Nepal and Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand). Please join us on our adventure and feel free to send any comments or just a message to say hello along our way.
About 1 year ago I started thinking where the next part of the world to explore would be; I was looking for some direction in life and hoping to find some insight to unanswered questions and an opportunity to comtinue exploring our planets mysterious places. I remember reading a Native American book, Seven Arrows which spoke about the four directions of our planet and what each one could symbolize for a person. Each path could unfold layers of life and reveal possibilities for growth: North symbolizing Wisdom; South symbolizing Heart and Passion; West symbolizing Growth and East symbolizing Insight and Illumination.
Each of these directions have been travelled except for the East which, this part of the world being known for enlightenment and inner awareness. I was hoping that our travels would allow me to step back, examine my life and see which path this present journey would take me on. ...And here we are in India!!
So, we left May 31st for a 20 hour flight to Kolkata, with a short layover in Frankfurt Germany. We arrived around 11:30 to a relatively pleasant weather, slightly humid and bustling with people..even at this time of the night. All our luggage arrived safely and we packed our bikes into a small Taxi and went searching for a hotel. Did I mention this was a bicycle touring trip? Flashing forward 6 days, sitting in Bishnapur in a small internet cafe Donavon says I have 2 minutes, so I will continue the first 5 days with the next entry. Please stay tuned for some hair raising, near death stories which made us laugh and cry but has already been so enriching!
